Repurposing Halloween Decorations for Thanksgiving

Time to get rid of those Halloween decorations! But before you toss or store everything, check to see if it really needs to go away yet. I usually decorate so that I can swap out a few things to transform my decorations from spooky fun to warm and welcoming Autumn cheer. I noticed several creative people in my neighborhood repurposing some of their decorations to make attractive Thanksgiving displays, too, so I think a lot of people feel like the holidays come so close together that decorating with both of them in mind just makes sense.
- Bales of hay are easily transformed into Thanksgiving displays. Simply remove the witches and crows perched on them and put turkeys and mums or decorative kale in their place.
- Pumpkins that haven’t gone bad fit right in with a Thanksgiving grouping of gourds and dried corn and add much needed size and shape variations to the display.
- Scarecrows can be ideal decorations if scary spiders, bats, etc. are stowed away and harvest items like apples, fall leaves and dried grasses are tucked around them instead.
Do you plan your fall decorations so that you can pull down a few creepy things and put up a few harvest themed things to carry your display into November?
