Resourcefulness.

This morning while watching Art Attack, Alison decided that she simply had to make a nodder. But she had thrown away a loo roll I’d saved for her earlier, so I told her she had to wait until another one became available. Instead, she said, “Mom I know where to get a roll!” and promptly scooted off.

Back she came with roll in hand. I put it aside and told her her Daddy would make her the nodder later (the husband’s the creative one in the family), and didn’t think anymore of it until I stepped into the bathroom:

She had unwound all the paper from the roll and left it on the floor for her father to find. When I quizzed her about it, she readily admitted that she’d unrolled everything onto the floor. “I made a nice pile, Mummy.” I didn’t know whether to scold her or praise her.
