Yes, it’s time you know I’m a lip balm freak. I stopped wearing lipstick after college. And I abandoned ChapStick after I figured out it contains petroleum. I started using Burt’s Bees beeswax lip balm last year, and I like it.
But this review is about Lip Saver SPF 15 by Aveda.
I was ordering some shampoo and lotion from Aveda, and needed to spend about $6 more to get free shipping. I chose Lip Saver for $8.50.
Aveda.com describes the product as a “soothing, moisturizing, botanical balm.” Yes, I’d have to agree with that. It also is quite refreshing with its cinnamon leaf, clove and anise oils. If you’re not a fan of anise, you may not like this. The scent/flavor isn’t overpowering, but it’s there.
I love that Lip Saver contains SPF 15, and feels good on the lips. Another thing I like about the product is that it comes from Aveda, a very eco-friendly company.
However, there are a few things I didn’t like about Lip Saver. Perhaps I’m not delicate enough with my balm, but I found that if I used much pressure at all when applying, the balm would break apart. No, I didn’t roll it out too much, but that’s no matter. It still broke off a few times. That’s a factor in the other thing I don’t like about it: It didn’t last long enough for the money spent.
Overall, I was pleased with the product because it did its job and felt great on the lips. However, I’m not sure I’m ready for it to replace my regular lip balm just yet. I won’t hesitate to add it for free shipping though!
If you’ve tried Lip Saver by Aveda, what did you think?
