Revisiting a Special Moment

In this blog many of the journal writing prompts and challenges are about revisiting moments in our lives, special or not so special. Think about one of those special moments. Search for a moment so good you’d give anything to experience it all over again. Now write about that moment. Spend time going over the details of that experience. Try to define the emotions you lived through at that time. Enliven your senses by writing about the minute details of the event, the usual smell, sound, etc, but don’t forget a sense of time and where you were, outside or inside. Can you possibly repeat this moment? Why or why not? Would you want to?

Spend time with these ideas in your journal today. I hope you enjoy this journal writing prompt. Please leave any comments in the section below. Today if you do leave comments you may win a prize.

I think prompts are wonderful, because how often we all hit a writer’s block. I truly enjoy reading the results of prompts on blogs that give me a window into the person’s life. You find out how much you can or cannot relate to another through things like these.

Also, I have read some incredible blogs that enlivened my senses so much that the next time I did the mundane activity they mentioned, instead of dreading it, I was looking for the deeper sense of its reality in my life.

  11. Felicia L says:

  24. Becky says:

We do that a different way, we go around the table at night and talk about our special moments. Putting it in a journal is a great idea as we could go back and remember it.

  25. Renee C. says:

With the business of kids, school, work, and home I often don’t even take the time to assess the days activities let alone Journal. My daughter is starting a journal and I have wondered if that would be useful/therapeutic for me as well. I know my moments are not daily and are not always SPECTACULAR but they are mine and they are easier to own when remembered thoroughly. Thanks for the idea, and opportunity to rethink this as an adult option.

  26. Moi says:

We’ve actually been doing a similar assignment in our homeschool this past week. Making memory lists, and writing about our feelings in regards to them. A lot of fun to reminisce. Thanks for the chance to win a prize!

Very interesting prompt. When I’m feeling depressed or overwhelmed I do try to close my eyes, breathe in deeply, and take a fresh look around me. I’m always surprised how beautiful the clouds and leaves are. I try to repeat that experiance as much as I can because it helps me refocus my priorities.

unlike the other poster who would not want to relive giving birth due to the pain, I on the other hand would love the chance to feel the pain of giving birth that indicated to me that with that pain a new life was entering this world that I, with the help of My Creator, brought into being..

  42. Helen says:

It’s been ages since I kept a journal.

  43. Kathy S says:

I lost both of my parents in under 3 years, and my only sibling 12 years ago, and sometimes either when I’m feeling sad, or remembering the good times and happy memories, I write them down in a special notebook. This is my way of keeping emotionally in touch with my past and the memories, whether happy or sad.
