I picked this up from Steve Spence’s Green Trust blog. ImaginIt Now! is an organization based out of Denver, Colorado that undertakes solar electricity projects for rural healthcare clinics around the world.
Their offerings include solar-powered water pumps so these facilities can access clean water; solar lighting that allows the clinics to provide services into the evenings and ensure sufficient lighting for surgeries; solar electric systems to power refrigerators for vaccines and other medical equipment such as respirators and dialyses machines; as well as communication systems like computers and 2 way radios which enables the medical staff to communicate with other professionals around the world.
If you take a close look at the camel in the photo, that contraption that its got strapped to it is actually a solar-powered refridgeration system which permits the transport of vaccines to clinics. Cool stuff!
ImaginIt Now! is currently in the process of raising funds for its endeavours as well as accepting volunteer help. If you think you could lend a hand or would just like some more information about these folks, check out their website here.

Great news for some remote areas… now it all depends on the initial and running costs
