Sandwich Generation to-go
We’re at the beach this week, and you may remember last year when I had a defining sandwich generation moment at the ocean.
Well, this year it’s double the fun since my 83 year old mother-in-law is here with us, too. She also has a broken foot which she refuses to stay off of and has been told by her doctor that she shouldn’t walk on sand.
No, I’m not entirely sure how she decided that this trip was a good idea for her.
Please don’t misunderstand, I realize that I’m very fortunate to get to go on a nice trip with my family, it’s just that our beach place has a bunch of steps and I’ve spent several gray hairs watching my dad and my mother-in-law navigate them (both insisted that steps weren’t a problem, don’t know why we listened.)
But, I realized that the icing on my stereotype cake came when I hurt my own back doing I have no idea what, and I can’t really bend over, thus making me seem older that I really am.
