@ Remi - Thanks for chiming in. You're exactly right - I do highlight mental health news for all to see, because education and awareness are strong, solid tools for fighting stigma. Ignoring this news, or sweeping it under the rug, is exactly the kind of way the public handled mental health issues in the past, and it leads to ignorance, fear, and stigma. However, I do hope it doesn't come across as "poking fun," because I try to highlight and occasionally comment on these mental health issues, rather than add commentary that increases stigma.

Time for the weekly insanity update, where the insane, the bizarre, the ridiculous, and the completely absurd are highlighted for all to see! This has been a week of rare idiocy (as always!). So, if you want to remain sane, the best thing is to poke some fun at the more egregious absurdities.

@ pearl - I don't know if the proposed budget is reasonable or not (because I'm obviously not an authority on California's budget, ha), but I do remember reading that court-appointed receiver hadn't yet given any suggestions as to where the money should come from. The sad thing is, there never seems to be enough money.

Regarding the governor of Virginia’s decision to take a mentally ill inmate off death row, unless proven the person is relly mentally ill, I think it's right to consider them away from death row.
And about the upgrading of the physical and mental health care they asked to the governor, if the proposed budget is reasonable, I think this could be considered.
