Saving Kids Artwork

Every parent I talk to seems to have a ton of their kid’s artwork that they just don’t know what to do with anymore. Over the years it can certainly multiply, especially if you have an industrious little artist!
And it’s always a hard thing to get rid of. There’s the guilt of disappointing your child versus the reality that you probably don’t have room to save it all.
That’s why I loved this article on “5 easy ways to display and save kid’s art.” One of the tips I really liked was keeping a scrapbook with the art in it. Since so many of us are into scrapbooking these days, it would be a fun and easy project to use art as part of a page.
I also thought the idea of making it a game with your kids made sense. Like, “Let’s see which pictures are the ten best and save those.”
I also know of parents framing some of their kids artwork and decorating their rooms with it. The clothspin method works good too, because you can easily display the art and change it out as new pictures are created.
What are your ideas for saving kid’s artwork?

Ok, first when I saw the picture of the boy I thought it looked like my husband when he younger! So cute!
My mom is the cleanest, most organized person, and she had the same predicament with my art. She ended up taking about 30 papers from the year and would make a scrapbook for me! I love it! It’s fun to see my hand writing when I was 5! The scrapbook doesn’t take up very much room, and then I some art work, school papers to keep for history’s sake!
Sounds like a wonderful keepsake!
I use a 3 ring binder and place the art work in sheet protectors. Each child has their own binder, even my high schooler. I put their art work, grade cards, special photos, etc. When they are grown I can go through these binders and remember how little they once were!
Tina: Sounds like a great way to keep organized.
I am a mom of two girls and I really didn’t know what to do with all their art. I am a fashion photographer and decided to start shooting it professional and that is how I started my business called Petite Artwork. Now I trying to save kids art one child at a time. I make custom coffee table art books of children’s art.
I just wanted to share…
Happy Holidays.
