It seems like my kids like to draw on almost anything. We don’t have a driveway or sidewalks (country living!) but when we did they used to love to play with this. You can make a neat gift by adding some smooth river rocks and calling it a hopscotch kit! Sidewalk chalk is a fun gift, frugal stocking stuffer, or great project for a rainy day.
SIDEWALK CHALK
- 1 cup plaster of paris
- 1 cup water
- Powdered tempera paint for color (add until you get the color you want)
- Glitter, if desired
- Essential Oil, if you want scented chalk.
- Mold (you can use a toilet paper tube or paper towel tube or almost anything)
Mix all ingredients. Pack your mixture into the empty toilet paper tube, or mold.
Let set for 24 hours. Peel off cardboard or remove from mold.

I keep forgetting to get tempera paint. I saw a recipe forr using egg shells, but I don’t know if I have the patience to grind them up. We do go through a lot of eggs, so maybe I’ll try it. Supposedly you can use the eggshell powder in place of the plaster.
that is cool! I didn’t know that..ours would all be brown though
