School Lunch: Fast Food vs Healthy

Every year we go enroll our children in school and get a new set of rules to follow, this year will not be any different. With different teachers you’ll

get ways of teaching, methods of correcting and what they want out of the school year. This includes many things, from the way your child behaves to school lists. But once the school year begins you’ll also have to decide yet one more thing. Does your child bring a lunch or buy it?

If your child is buying lunch at school, are they eating healthy food or the junk? Yes, I said junk because lets face it, when your child has the option to have a pizza and even if they actually put the vegetables or fruit on their tray it probably isn’t going to be touched. Am I right? I know I’ve seen this on hundreds of trays that end up in the trash. I’ve heard the lunch ladies state, “Choose one.” The child chooses it but they don’t eat it.

I remember showing up at my oldest daughter’s lunch one year and watching as she had a huge selection but only took a peanutbutter and honey (yes honey) sandwich and grabbed a milk and jell-o. That was it, no vegetables or anything she was getting a tiny sandwich for lunch. She would’ve got more if I made her bring a lunch, or more if I went to Burger King and brought her something back. Right?

Now, how many of you have brought your child fast food for lunch? How many of you think this is wrong? Does your child eat everything when it is fast food? What about when they buy lunch? Now answer me, if your child actually eats all their food and it is fast food is this bad? Or is it better that they purchase lunch at school and only eats one thing and tosses the rest which is better?
