Science for Children

Discovery DNA Explorer KitMy four-year-old already knows that the best way to please me is to talk about science, proclaim himself to be a scientist, or call me a scientist. :D When I happened upon the Science With Me! website this past week, I was very excited. Along with clearly explained scientific concepts demonstrated using animations, games, and science projects, there is a Famous Scientists Worksheet on Watson and Crick. While you’re at it, check out founder Dr. Elva O’Sullivan’s blog, Science for Kids, too!

Update: Check out what I just found. The ScienceWiz DNA Experiment Kit with materials to “extract DNA from a fruit, build a double helix, solve a chromosome puzzle and transform and grow their own green glowing cells.” Woohoo!

Oh, this time we posted on the same subject. :) If you’re interested in more scientific games, check out one of my old posts: http://scienceroll.com/2006/11/28/what-to-buy-for-christmas/

  2. NCurse: lol I believe Elva happened upon my heart disease blog because she was coming from Scienceroll. I’ve also written her up for all my b5 blogs, including A Hearty Life and Play Library.

Thanks for the link to scientific games.

  1. [...] Hsien sent me a link to Science With Me a little while ago, I didn’t have a chance to blog it until now, but she did!  Anyway, it’s a cool site with a free membership so you and your kids can learn about static electricity (which I had my own run it with today) and fingerprints.  Everything seems to be written in nice, kid-friendly language and the experiments are short and easy (maybe messy too!). [...]

  2. [...] Science education is woefully lacking in many schools all over the world. Teachers who are passionate, talented, and creative in showing our kids that science is cool and very much necessary to thrive in our world are invaluable. Dr. Elva O’Sullivan is one such teacher. She’s the creator of Science With Me!, a website for children that I’ve profiled in the past. Learn more about Dr. O’Sullivan and think about how you can spared the gospel of science to everyone.
