Sculptured House

I’m not sure if we’ve had the Sculptured House on here before; I know I haven’t posted it. I’m not the biggest Sculptured House fan, which I’m betting puts me in the minority. People seemingly love this Colorado house. The home, designed by Charles Deaton, was featured in the 1973 classic Sleeper by Woody Allen, which may be part of the allure.

I sort of get it, because it was way ahead of its time, at the time. You just didn’t see round, let alone swirling upwards round homes in that era. I appreciate that, and of course adore the view, it’s just not the most appealing home ever to me. It’s a little spacey, or squat maybe. Hmmm. Still, we rarely see a home I don’t fall head over heels for which does make this home pretty darn unique.
What do you think?
This image came from the The Magnificent Sculptured House article featured in City & Mountain Views – this article by the way includes a great round up of photos (both exterior and interior) of the home, and a cool back story about home costs and how this house has switched hands.
