Seeds for the Seeds

pumpkinWhen I was little and had a cold, my mom would crush baby aspirin into applesauce (just a spoonful of sugar….) to help the medicine go down. Lately, I’ve been finding myself singing that Mary Poppins tune as I surreptitiously slip pumpkin seeds into just about every meal I make. Why?

A few months ago I wrote a post on “Fertile Foods” and mentioned that increasing one’s intake of zinc and folic acids is said to increase sperm count. Pumpkin seeds are small, versatile (can be use in sweet or savory dishes), and a great source of zinc and other goodness, so why not add them to your diet whenever you can?

Here are the places I have placed pumpkin seeds (so far):

  1. On top of a vegetarian pizza
  2. Tossed in a salad
  3. In cranberry and walnut cookies (which turned out surprisingly pretty and festive)
  4. In trail mix
  5. As part of a taco feast

I am sure there are other recipes that would taste just as good or even better with little pepitas in them. Know any? Feel like sharing?
