Mid-day mental health news update!
According to Mental Health America (MHA), it’s time to urge our Senators and Representatives to vote early on the Mental Health Parity Act of 2007, parity bill S. 558.
MHA notes important situations on the table:
- In the House of Representatives, two committees must still take action to clear the House parity bill, HR 1424, for a floor vote.
- Changes to the Senate bill move it much closer to passage in that chamber, and narrow the differences between that legislation and HR 1424.
- It’s important that both the Senate and House take up and pass their respective parity bill when they return from the August recess.
So, take action by sending an email to your Senators telling them to get this matter on the floor and voted on immediately. Don’t worry – the email is automatically generated (of course, you can add your own message if you’d rather); all you have to do is give your name, address, etc. and so forth.
