Sensing Spring

Sensing Spring

I love spring. It has to be my favourite season of all. I love the way I can let my bare arms feel the warm sunshine. I love the sweet aroma of spring flowers in gardens in my neighbourhood. I love the silkiness of the lush grass beneath my toes. I love the screech of the early morning black cockatoos flying over my house each morning.

Use your senses to explore spring, or whichever season you are enjoying in your part of the world. What do you see only in spring? What is unique about the scents filling the air? What can you taste this time of year that you won’t any other time? What sounds do you hear that belong to spring? What do you get a chance to feel beneath your fingertips in spring? What else can you sense about spring that isn’t necessarily one of the five senses?

Spend some time on each of the senses. Write half a page or more on each sense. Preferably write outside where these experiences will be closer to hand. You might want to pick some new spring blossoms or something else that will help you enliven the season for you. If you can’t possibly get outside, research the season in books or on online.

I hope you enjoy this journal writing prompt. Please leave any comments in the section below.
