Setting Up a Booth at a Crafts Fair

Many of you probably show and sell your items at crafts fairs…outdoor ones in the summer and fall and indoors during the winter months.  Everyone has a different style of engaging with customers and a different way to decorate their booth and displays.

Is there one correct way?  I’d think not.  It probably depends on your personality and your wares.  I’ve participated in fairs when I operated a quiltmaking business and found my booth also would vary depending on the location, the audience, and what I had to offer.

I found an interesting article at Crafts and Arts Life by Ian Kleine that gives this author’s positive reaction to an artisan’s simplicity in booth decoration and her quiet, friendly manner.  You might find a few tips you can apply to your displays and still fit with your personality.

Some people attract a crowd with drama and color; others find customers like reserve, simplicity, and quiet.
