Sex Offenders Going Green?
Bright green license plates could soon identify Wisconsin’s worst sex offenders. A bill that would make that change is moving one step closer to becoming law.
The measure cleared the Assembly’s Criminal Justice Committee on a 8-to-3 vote Wednesday. Opponents argue that marking cars driven by serious child molesters and sexually violent offenders is unconstitutional. But supporters say the license plates would help children avoid being the victim of a crime.
When I first read about this possibly happening in Ohio several months back, my first instinct was that it was a brilliant idea – better yet, paint the whole friggin car green. But let’s really put some thought into this… Shall we?
Do you REALLY think sex offenders are going to be driving around with these plates? I’m thinking we’ll see more of them on bikes or foot which makes them even less intimidating to children.
Let’s consider what happens IF by some really slim chance, these pervs do decide to drive with these plates… What do you think this will do to the acts of road rage and other similar acts of violence in public?
Can’t you just imagine what would happen if poor Junior needs to borrow dad’s car and what could possibly happen if he became the victim of mistaken identity?
I just don’t think much thought has gone into this possibility and should it happen to pass into law, I certainly hope the politicians are prepared to handle the monstrous can of worms it’s likely to open.

Wow, I agree with your comments. While it seems like a great idea at first, you’re right in that it could lead to a lot of bigger problems….
