Should First Family Adopt a Cat?

Surely you know I think they should! After all, cats helped elect Obama. But seriously, I can see many advantages to adding a First Cat.
Everyone seems to be going a bit crazy over Bo, the new White House dog, but adding a cat to the mix would help cats in a couple ways.
Felines, as cool as they are, suffer from image issues. They just aren’t regarded as highly as dogs by many people. (I’m not one of them, obviously!) The proof is in how cats receive less medical care than dogs. And animal care researchers tend to focus more on dogs than cats.
An Obama cat would surely help elevate cat status, and may even inspire others to adopt a feline.
Furthermore, Obama’s favorite former President Lincoln was a cat lover. It only makes sense. Cats also offer wonderful pest control for free.
Cats can add a certain elegance and grace to any household, and they have the added value of keeping dogs in their place!
Why to you think the First Family should or should not have a cat?
