Should your teen’s cell phone have GPS tracking?

You ask them to call to let you know where they are, and they do. From their cell phone. In a perfect world with perfect teens, they’re telling the absolute truth when reporting their whereabouts, but, it’s not a perfect world, is it? Hence “call me back from a land line”. This provides Caller ID information that (hopefully) matches the location the little darling gave you. And with so many kids being savy to technology and knowing how to get around the caller I.D. rule, consider GPS tracking on the phone.

I have to admit, I think this is a bit extreme, but with four teens in the house, you can bet I’ll be considering it!

At least I’ve got a year to think about it, before the first one starts driving.

i dont see the point in it. i mean if your child seriously doesnt want you to know where they are, they will just leave their cell phone wherever you think they are. it may be a good idea, and it may make you feel like a good parent, but kids arent dumb these days, they find ways around things:)

If I had this feature on my kid’s phone I would probably not tell them it was there for it to be affective. That may sound extreme but when your dealing with a kid that doesn’t tell the truth you have to be creative.
