Signing Out?

For me, starting each journal entry is simply a matter of noting the date and beginning to write. But I’m not sure I’ve ever mentioned ending an entry. For some reason I always sign my name, just my first name, when I’ve completed an entry for the day. If I know I’m going to write more I don’t sign out. I really have no idea why I do this. Perhaps it gives me a sense of completion or coming to an end?
What about you? Do you sign out or mark the end of your entry for the day? Please share in the comments section below your routine for ending an entry, if you have one at all.

I will sometimes put a flourish at the bottom of a journal entry, and use a smaller one for extreme changes of time or topic. For a year or so, I used to use a capital Q with an arrow through it — Theodore Sturgeon’s symbol for “ask the next question” — to remind myself that things were not necessarily complete, simply because I’d put words around them.
Hi Velma,
Thanks for sharing. How interesting about the Q with an arrow. I like what the symbol represents. Thanks again for commenting.
I sign just my first name to the end of my entries as well. Often for short pauses in an entry I leave 3 dots as a section break.
Hi Laura,
Thanks for letting me know. I didn’t think of using something like that to signal the end of a section break. Great idea. Thanks again.
i write in small print but my sign off is in big cursive and i write Until… meaning until i write again.
Hi Dani,
I like that ending. It does hold the promise of more to come. Thanks for sharing.
