Simple joys

Today we were effective snowed in. My husband did manage to get to the corner store for an extra carton of milk, some toilet paper, and other necessities (like chips, ha!). However, he’s 6′2″ tall and he said the snow was up above his knees and he had to walk on the street just to avoid sinking. So yeah. Snowed in.
I find that when you’re stuck inside you find the biggest joys in the simplest things. My husband and my oldest made a tent together in the living room with two of our dining room chairs, several blankets, and a few pillows.
It didn’t take much time or effort, but it sure made her happy and it kept her busy for an hour. In fact, she would have been occupied with it for even longer if I hadn’t required the chairs back at the table for supper. But you know, she had so much fun that she was actually quite happy to help disassemble it all and put it away.
I guess it’s further proof that fancy toys are fun to a certain extent, but she had a lot more fun pretending to be camping out than she did playing with any of her other toys!
It’s a good thing to know. I have a feeling tomorrow will be a snow day since our sliding doors looked like this at 6 pm and at 11 pm it’s still coming down.
I think we may have to build a new tent.
