Simple pleasures are the best

When you pick up your kid from school and find out that she was distracted and not concentrating and acting up because she was so tired after lunch, and then she has a meltdown over eight different things at home, the simple pleasures can really save the day. Things like:

  1. Deciding that oh hell no we won’t be doing homework tonight. It can go back one day later just to avoid trying to get her to concentrate on something when she’s clearly exhausted.
  2. Curling up on the couch after supper and reading three chapters of her new book to her (one based on Mariposa).
  3. Being applauded after you finish reading those chapters to her.
  4. Putting her to bed a half hour earlier than usual.
  5. Having her fall asleep right around the time she normally only gets into bed.

Hopefully she’ll feel more awake tomorrow.

(And speaking of tomorrow, don’t forget to come back to see if you won my contest!)
