Six Issues to Cover In Your Home Inventory

To follow up my create a home inventory post, I thought I’d do a quickie about what to include – in case your insurance co. forgot to give you a list.
Six things to note – no matter if you’re using a video camera, camera, or pad and pencil. Note, if you’re using a paper list and a media list, you only need all of this info on the paper list.
- Item type: “kitchen microwave”
- Item name brand: “GE Profile Spacemaker II Microwave Oven”
- Item description: “White on black, counter top model, etc”
- Item purchase date
- Item serial and model number
- Cost when purchased
This is one reason keeping warranty info organized is such a great plan; it helps with home inventories.
Jennifer, just came across your post. I know this comment is coming a little late, but I figured it’s never too late to give kudos. Your advice is sound and on point. Taking the time to gather the information you listed or hiring someone to do it for you is something that everyone needs to consider. A little effort now may go a long way if ever faced with a loss!
