Skinny Fat

I heard the term “skinny fat” a while ago and was intrigued by the concept, which goes a little something like this:
Though a woman may wear a small clothing size and appear to be “thin”, her body fat percentage may actually be significantly higher (and her muscle tone much worse) than someone who looks “larger.”
Fascinating.
I think I’ve known some of these women — they eat junk food all the time and stay super svelte. However, they couldn’t lift anything heavier than a medium-sized peddle or run across the street just to borrow a cup of sugar. On the other hand, I’ve known plenty of larger gals who can run a 5K without breaking much of a sweat and wouldn’t think twice about moving furniture that Hulk Hogan couldn’t budge.
Have you heard of skinny fat? What do you think?

I have heard of skinny fat. It makes a lot of sense because it’s all about muscle mass. Someone who is really thin may have more fat on their body than someone who appears larger but has more muscle mass/tone.
PTC:
Good observations. I’m wondering, though, if plenty of people would rather be “skinny fat” than considered (by the mainstream, anyway) “fat fat”.
