Sleep Under the Stars

Recently I was contacted by one Rip Read, or, “The Startist” if you will. His work is unique, lovely, and glittering. Read creates custom StarMurals – each one a 100% original piece for commercial buildings, residences, and other structures.
StarMurals are Read’s 5-D works of art that replicate the nighttime sky. And by replicate, I mean exactly. These are great murals. Take a peek…
This is a wine cellar:

You can’t see StarMurals during the day. Like the real stars you have to wait until dark to see them. All of the stars actually move and twinkle. The shooting stars even move. Amazing.
Game room…

Some StarMural facts from Read’s site:
- Each StarMural is hand-painted and plotted free-hand (a big amazement in itself).
- This art glows all night, “Up to 25 hours” and maintains complete invisibility in the daytime – which Read notes makes him an original.
- The murals, energize in a short period of time and “Perform well using nearly any light source…sunlight, fluorescent, incandescent, even 12V.”
- Read has experimented with, “Over 100 brands of phosphorescent materials, from over 50 manufacturers and distributors, worldwide…in a variety of micron particle sizes,” in order to find the right mural application.
Information about the actual paint in Read’s words…
“My process of formulation is top secret and involves many objective and subjective factors, including viscosity, density, pigment loading, specific gravity, color, sheen, elasticity and more. The end result is a highly durable, long lasting, fully invisible product that glows brightly, night after night, for 20 years or more. Built into all my “paints” is a special UV inhibitor that protects the finish from yellowing and other damage from sunlight.
Also featured is a finish that once it has “set-up”, is even washable. You can even put a coat of paint over your StarMural and it will still glow brightly… night after night. All of my finished materials are non-toxic, non-radioactive and 100% safe, in all environments.”
Bathroom:

Read can apply his work to a number of structures including boats, planes, homes, etc… I think they’re perfect for kid rooms. Or at least, my boy would love one.
Options: StarMurals are available in lots of options from expanded horizons like the one below, to basic galleries of stars, and even pretend skylights. Many more unique options available.

Also, murals can be completed in a variety of nighttime sky scenes.

You can visit Read’s StarMural site to see many different rooms in both daytime light, and evening dark. The contrast is very cool to see. You can even learn how to get your very own StarMural.

o.k..that is seriously perfect for the sunroom in my house. I love this, Jennifer..great job.
And how wonderfully ironic that would be to have a star mural in your sunroom! That alone would be great.
WOuldn’t it just…it is so me.
Hi,
When we were kids, one of our favourite thoughts sure was to sleep outside.
Now we can
