I'm on my second week of Chantix and I still have the habitual "need" to smoke. Ya know, just because Ive done it for so long. I'm past my quit date but I keep taking the Chantix with hopes that I can still overcome this beast! I am experiencing really bad stomach pain. I have acid reflux and I am afraid that this will give me an ulcer. The amount I smoke seems to have gone down but this stomach thing makes me want to give up. I need some help here.

Hey Yall, thanks for following me. But, could you pop over to http://www.quitcoping.blogspot.com/

Jan, it says in Chantix that you do NOT want to do that. Mainly because the Chantix tells your brain you no longer need nicotine. You want to take advantage of that message by not providing your brain with nicotine in a patch. Also, if you smoke while taking Chantix you'll have a feeling of bloating and other uncomfortableness - I think that's intentional to make smoking not be so much fun. I imagine you might feel really really physically bad if you wear the patch while taking Chantix.

You can totally do this. If I read you right this is your first week of Chantix and you're still totally allowed to smoke. Save the guilt and criticism for the second week in Oct. The first week you're allowed guilt free smoking - enjoy it!

I wrote something special for you about what happens the first week calld Smoke Your Brains Out. http://quitcoping.blogspot.com/2007/09/week-one-smoke-your-brains-out.html

Debbie, come on over to quit coping too. If you're in your first week - now is the time to smoke up and say goodbye!

I guess I'm second. I was on the last blog but decided to come to this new one as well. My quit day is Oct. 1, Monday, and I'm not doing as well as most. I still have smoking cravings and I'm still smoking. I'm getting anxious now because I have only three days to go. I was wondering if anyone has used the nicotine patches along with Chantix? I need all the help I can get right now.

Thanks, Jan
