Snowman Hurricane Centerpiece

I love the look of a glass centerpiece. Today I’m going to show you how to make a snowman centerpiece from your glass hurricane globe. You will use the globe to make the snowman and then surround it with a little Christmas greenery.

Here is what you will need to get started:

  • Hurricane globe
  • Acrylic enamel or glass paints in white, black, blue, orange, red
  • A sea sponge
  • A paint brush
  • A small green wreath or a bundle of Christmas greens

Wash the hurricane globe and dry thoroughly. Give a little spray with ammonia window cleaner to make sure there is no grease or residue on the globe.

Start with your white paint. Pour a small amount of paint on a paper plate. Use your sea sponge to paint the entire globe, adding more paint as needed.

Once the paint is dry you can begin to paint the face. Start with the eyes, referring to the photo, make an outline of the eyes with your black paint, add blue paint to the center of the eye with a small dab of white in the blue area.

Paint the nose in the form of a carrot and outline it with black. You can add a few fine lines of black paint in the carrot to make it appear wrinkled. Paint the mouth black as shown.

To create the rosy cheeks, dip a very small, damp, piece of sea sponge in the red paint. Dab most of the red pain off onto a paper towel.  Dab a circle, very lightly, with the sea sponge for the cheeks.

If you are using a small wreath or greenery with the centerpiece then I suggest using a battery operated candle or a plug in candle with the cord traveling out of the back of the wreath. You can also use mini battery operated light entwined into the greenery. That will give off a beautiful effect.
