Solar Power Helps Water Crops

Here in the Philippines, agriculture and farming have been two major sources of income for citizens. Try going to the provinces and you would see vast pieces of land used for farming, planting rice (a staple food), vegetables, and other crops. These are watered through irrigation systems.

In Nigeria, how they water their crops is highly unique. They toned up and reconfigured a couple of old machines so that they now become water pumps. When completed, these old-machines-turned-water-pumps start working using solar power. I find that really unique and I’m starting to wonder if people here in the Philippines could make something like these. Honestly, these machines are going to be a big help especially during the summer.

Back to Nigeria. The whole deal was actually a project headed by Dr. Adoko Sambwa and the good doctor has stated that he really does hope that this invention would make its way to other countries. I’m going to give two thumbs up to this one.
