Soundtracks, Nick and Norah’s Infinate Playlist
I often remember moments as songs. I distinctly remember looking across a crowded college dance floor into the eyes of my future husband while the DC played “Better Man” by Pearl Jam. I know all the words to the songs on my running tape from high school and I would probably laugh out loud if I ever heard songs by Salt N Peppa again.
Authors Rachel Cohn and David Levithan figured this out too. They introduce us to Nick and Norah in Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, two teens whose lives revolve around music so much that it guides them. The two end up on a five minute date and in all their awkwardness, they they musically connect.
Coming to theaters soon as well.

Parents, and anyone choosing books for YA readers, should be aware the reviews mention that expletives/four-letter words are prevalent in this book. (I haven’t read it.) It’s difficult to prevent youngsters from reading books with bad language. (They’ll simply get them from their friends…and some libraries). However, I always tried to discuss with our daughter why I disapproved of a book and why I wouldn’t write a book with certain language or scenes.
Even though she used to comment, “Mom, you’re so Victorian!” I notice her doing the same with her children now.
