Spark Your Media Releases for Greater Quilting Recognition

Often quilters send out press or media releases to announce a new book, a class they’re teaching, a talk they’re giving, or an accomplishment of interest in qulting/fabric art world or their local community. However, they may not know how best to word the releases nor where to send them.
Carolyn Howard-Johnson has become a promotional expert, learning by promoting her own books and classes. Even though she’s not a quilt book writer, the tips she gives are valuable to anyone who uses media outlets.
I’ve included a guest post from Carolyn at my Home Biz Notes blog, Carolyn Howard-Johnson’s Tips to Spark Your Media Releases, that you may want to check out for some ideas. Carolyn also is the author of The Frugal Book Promoter and The Frugal Editor. You’ll find more tips at Carolyn’s blog, The Frugal Editor.

You know, I’m from Utah. Big quilting country. My mother made so many quilts (including a huge kingsize bedspread that I still use) she can’t remember them all! I used quilts and sewing as metaphors in my novel This Is the Place, the story of five generations of women (all quilters until me). It is a fictionalized version of my own life.
But not until today did I ever land on a quilting blog. Love it. Thank you, Mary Emma.
Best,

Carolyn, I’ll have to read This Is the Place again and look for the quilting and sewing metaphors. Thanks for sharing the quilts and quilting in your life.
