Spinal cord stimulation uses a medical device that is implanted into the spinal area to treat chronic neurological pain. Electric impulses are generated by the device changing your perception of pain. (Guest article: Spinal stimulation)
Now, according to a North Carolina news station, "Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg is using spinal cord stimulation to help soldiers deal with chronic pain." The article, Special device helps ease soldiers’ pain, features Sgt. Larry Ruiz, who has dealt with severe pain every day since his leg was crushed two years ago. So far, six soldiers have been fit with a spinal cord stimulator.
The good news? After two years of pain, Sgt. Ruiz is now pain free. How cool is that?
