Spiru-Tein Vanilla Protein Shake Review

Spiru-tein Vanilla The large blue-and-white can of vanilla Spiru-tein brings back some great memories. When I was a young kid visiting my aunt in Utah, she always had some of this stuff around (being kind of a health nut, or at least that’s what I assumed of anyone who drank protein shakes). She’d get out the can, a glass of milk in a plastic cup, scoop the powder in and stir until it made a delicious vanilla treat. I just loved it, even though I couldn’t say much for its ability to mix well.

I’ve had it now and then since that time, but had almost forgotten what it tasted like till I picked up some at one of our local health food stores. So, here goes-

The Taste

It’s not as sweet as I remembered, but that could have come from mixing it with Almond Breeze instead of the skim milk I used in the past. Overall, the texture is a little gluey (I kind of enjoy it that way) and as I noticed before, it doesn’t “mix instantly” like it claims to do on the package. However, it has a good vanilla flavor.

The Nutrition

Total Calories (per one scoop) – 99
Total fat – 0g
Sodium – 140 mg
Net carbs – 10g
Sugars – 8g
Protein – 14g

In addition, it contains 100 percent of your RDA for many vitamins as well as a broad profile of amino acids.

Look for Spiru-Tein in your local health food store or the health food section of your grocery store. You can also buy it online.

  1. Hmm, never heard of this brand before, but I also am not a huge fan of protein shakes. I’ll use protein powder once in a while to make a smoothie, just for something different. It sounds like you have some good memories around this, though. :)

JoLynn – I’m a fan of protein shakes, on and off that is. Sometimes I just have almond milk instead. But yes, I do have fond memories of this shake :)

You really need to use a blender to mix this protein shake. When you do, it tastes like a milk shake. Does anyone know if the vitamin D in it is D3?

    I love Nature’s Plus SPIRU-TEIN chocolate. I loss about 45+ lbs.

    4 ice cubes
    1 scoop of Spiru-tein
1 cup of soy milk light and low sugar one.

Blend it for about 30 secs.

    Then Enjoy.

I also eat for lunch a a low sugar power bar and just water.

Dinner time. Just a nice avg dinner.

For a snack GeniSoy Protein Bar.

More water then I goto sleep.

Weekend like Friday night I eat anything as long it is not fried and health, just no pasta or heavy bread.
