Spiru-Tein Vanilla Protein Shake Review

The large blue-and-white can of vanilla Spiru-tein brings back some great memories. When I was a young kid visiting my aunt in Utah, she always had some of this stuff around (being kind of a health nut, or at least that’s what I assumed of anyone who drank protein shakes). She’d get out the can, a glass of milk in a plastic cup, scoop the powder in and stir until it made a delicious vanilla treat. I just loved it, even though I couldn’t say much for its ability to mix well.
I’ve had it now and then since that time, but had almost forgotten what it tasted like till I picked up some at one of our local health food stores. So, here goes-
The Taste
It’s not as sweet as I remembered, but that could have come from mixing it with Almond Breeze instead of the skim milk I used in the past. Overall, the texture is a little gluey (I kind of enjoy it that way) and as I noticed before, it doesn’t “mix instantly” like it claims to do on the package. However, it has a good vanilla flavor.

Hmm, never heard of this brand before, but I also am not a huge fan of protein shakes. I’ll use protein powder once in a while to make a smoothie, just for something different. It sounds like you have some good memories around this, though.
I haven’t had any of this in years! Thanks for the reminder on a great supllement.
JoLynn – I’m a fan of protein shakes, on and off that is. Sometimes I just have almond milk instead. But yes, I do have fond memories of this shake
SageRave – No problem!
You really need to use a blender to mix this protein shake. When you do, it tastes like a milk shake. Does anyone know if the vitamin D in it is D3?
I love Nature’s Plus SPIRU-TEIN chocolate. I loss about 45+ lbs.
