Spring Into Summer Cleaning

Is it summer yet? Did I still make it under the wire for spring cleaning? I’ll admit that I didn’t really do my spring cleaning until this past weekend. And even then, I didn’t get it all done. But here are a few things I did that might help you get organized as well.

Clean Out Books
Are you a book lover? Every member of our family is and that means we buy a lot of used books. It also means we have a lot of them lying around. Take them to Half Priced Books or donate them to Goodwill. If you aren’t reading them, don’t love them, or don’t have a use for them, get rid of them.
Donate Old Clothes
If you aren’t wearing it, donate it. Get a tax receipt from Goodwill and do some good with all those clothes you have kept around for the possibility of “one day” wearing again.
Get Rid of Old Medicine
Go through your over-the-counter stuff and prescriptions find a safe way to dispose of them. Don’t keep pills “just in case.”
Throw Out Old Cosmetics
Why do we hang on to cosmetics that we shouldn’t? Don’t hang on to old make up!
Have Kids Go Through Their Stuff
Every mom around wants to throw out a few things in their kid’s rooms. But have them get in the spirit by watching you. Tell them you are giving some old things to people who can use them more than you can, and ask them if they’d like to do the same. Often kids will gladly get rid of a toy or two in the spirit of following their parents example.
