Sprucing Up an Outdoor Space

We have an outdoor patio that I just love. It isn’t anything too special, but I did make curtains for it so it seems like truly an outdoor room. I even have a matching tablecloth I made with leftover fabric. Even when we aren’t sitting out there, just seeing our lovely outside room makes me happy.

I often have people comment that they aren’t handy enough to make curtains or spruce up their outdoor space. I say pish! There are lots of ways to add color and texture to a patio area. This article from MSN has some great ideas. Some of them are pretty costly, but others are green and frugal. (My two favorite things!)

I liked the idea of using old windows to spruce up a space (because you can find them very cheaply at flea markets). They also recommend creating a “room” outside with a simple change of flooring. Stones or brick can define an outside space just as easily as adding a wood deck.
