St. Patrick’s Day

You may be aware that today is St. Patrick’s Day. Although there is nothing particular about this day that links in with journal writing, I did think a reminder about including family stories in your journal might be appropriate.

We all have stories about where we came from or how long we’ve been where we are. There are stories the family tell at every get together. Think of all the stories that disappear every time an older relative dies. Think of the funny stories, the sad ones, the embarrassing ones and the plain silly ones that mean nothing to anyone else but your people.

Make sure to write them all down. Include the birth and death stories. The ones that make your kids smile and/or squirm. The ones you hate hearing and the ones you love because they bug your little sister/brother. Fill your journal. Tell the stories that identify you and those you love, or love to hate.
