I don’t know about this one, but it’s a study and here are the results.
Acupuncture is gaining popularity in the Western world as people begin to learn more about the techniques and experience success with treatments. As a result, some women are also turning to acupuncture to help them manage their pain during labor and delivery.
A study published in an obstetric and gynecology journal in Sweden looked at 128 women who were in labor. Half were given acupuncture, the other half injections of sterile water.
The good news is that both treatments were successful and the women didn’t ask for further pain therapy. The interesting finding, however, was that the sterile water did better in relieving pain than did the acupuncture.
