Stevia Sweetener PureVia and SoBe Life
Just last week, I wrote an entry about Truvia, a novel sweetener from the stevia plant. Little did I know that while Cargill and Coca-Cola are still doing trials to ascertain its safety, beverage rival Pepsi is already one step ahead, already planning to release a beverage called “SoBe Life“, which uses PepsiCo and Whole Earth Sweetener Company’s version of stevia-based sweetener called PureVia.
The two companies are partnering to introduce a breakthrough, zero-calorie, all-natural sweetener from the stevia plant. It’s called PureVia™ and will debut in a new nutritionally enhanced PepsiCo beverage called “SoBe Life,” to be launched in Latin America, starting with Peru. PureVia™ tabletop sweetener will launch in the United States this fall before expanding into drink and food products around the world. PureViaTM will be available initially in three SoBe Life flavor blends: Tropical Pomegranate, Strawberry-Kiwi and Orange-Tangerine.
Looks like they’ve even gotten the marketing campaigns rolling:

For purevia it takes a ratio of about two to one to match the sweetmess of splenda or equal in coffee or anywhere else. One box and done.
If you used Stevia powder it takes only about 1/8 tsp to overly sweeten a cup of coffee. Still do not know what they have DONE to stevia to create these new sweetners. I know they have stripped out some of the “noids” can’t recall there full names but it is the GOOD component in Stevia that is actually beneficial. I won’t trust PureVia or Truvia till I find out what process they are using to strip it out of stevia.
