When I get stressed and angry, I swear I can almost feel and “see” my blood pressure shoot up. Not good for my heart and certainly not good for my family.

Part of my problem is workaholism so it’s time to make some changes. Dr. Astrid Pujari of the Seattle Times has these suggestions for reducing stress.

  1. Take time for intentional relaxation.
  2. Exercise.
  3. Do something you enjoy every day.

Exotic Butterflies Counted Cross Stitch Kit, Craft KitI’m planning to tackle suggestion #1 and will be getting back to doing needlework. I abandoned it more than four years ago when my son was born but know it will be the best thing I can do to help me relax. What do you do to relax?

NB: For more, the British Heart Foundation has a booklet: Stress and your heart (pdf).
