Stop with the plague!

I feel like I’m channeling my inner Shakespeare, and I’m wondering if someone screamed “a plague on both your houses!” at me a la Romeo & Juliet. Because that may be the only possible explanation for my daughter still being sick. She started back at school on January 8th. On the 9th I had to go get her because she wasn’t well. She spent the 10th in bed with a fever and runny nose, and stayed home on the 11th due to not sleeping well that night.

She went back again on the 14th and 15th. On the 16th, I had to go in AGAIN to get her because she had a lot of pain in her ear. I kept her home on the 17th, and when it was still bothering her, I kept her home on the 18th so I could take her to the doctor to rule out an ear infection. It wasn’t infected just a little over-zealous in the wax production combined with her cold from the week before making a lot of pressure. They took care of that and she was fine.

BUT! Over the weekend she came down with a rip-roaring cough that makes her sound like she smokes two packs a day. And so she stayed home today too.

Out of ten days, she has missed five full days plus the partial days where I had to pick her up early. Gah! And she also has a ped day this Friday.

We’re sending her tomorrow. She’s still coughing but she’s no longer sick. Her energy levels and desire to do things today showed that she’s fine, if a bit noisy. Unless the school calls us again or she wakes up with a limb missing, she’s not missing any more days this week!

Yes, we have the cough here…every time he sneezes he blows snot from both nostrils and all over the floor. I hate to laugh but it is the funniest dang thing in the world!

Poor kid. Poor you. The upside of homeschooling: when they’re sick, they’re already home. The downside of homeschooling: when I’m sick, they’re home. Although as they get older, that’s not so true. They’re both getting good at fetching tea, toast and tissues. :)

Here’s hoping the germs leave and everyone stays well until spring gets here and the sunshine kills the plague germs.

    Shine On,
    Lill
