Stop! You’re Breaking the Pumps!

It seems that gas prices pushing beyond $4 is more than just Pennsylvania residents can handle – older, non-digital fuel dispensers cannot comprehend the numbers. Literally. Anything above $3.99 gets them out of whack.
Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell announced this weekend that gas stations in PA will be allowed to advertise half-gallon prices until upgrades to the older pumps can be made.
Make your gallons (or half-gallons) stretch further by walking, bicycling, taking public transport when you can. Taking advantage of these gas stretching tips when you can’t. You can also try www.gasbuddy.com (a favorite of ours) to try and find sub $4 fuel.
When all else fails, you can always get creative, like the University of Central Florida student who concocted fuel from fryer grease.
More on that story later….

Just dropping by (via NaComLeavMo), and wanted to say I love your blog! I’m collecting all sorts of cool tricks.
(btw, my favorite use of baking soda is in lieu of Soft Scrub to clean my kitchen sink. It works like a charm, and seems pretty mild.
I am here from NaComLeavMo and am already in love with your blog! I am trying very hard to make my house and life more eco-friendly (not easy to do with a spouse who is, if not against it, not exactly helpful with it), but I’ve got the kids going with me. My 4-year-old’s new love is recycling. He wants to recycle everything, so we’re finding more ways to recycle and reuse. I will be back often, and am off to go read some of your archives now!
I can see the lines forming when the half-gallon prices are shown – only to be disappointed when they have to multiply it by 2! Here from NCLM – love your blog!
I am so in love with NCLM for helping me find wonderful blogs like this
I cannot wait to keep reading
I’m not sure how I came across your blog, but kind of funny because I’m also doing NaComLeavMo. You must be in the middle, I’ve been to the top section & the bottom sections, lol. I heard that people are having problems because Visa & Mastercard have those gas limits to help with theft. One is only $50 & the other is $75. Especially SUV’s cannot fill up at that price. We haven’t had half price yet, but we do get cheaper gas if you pay cash. The 1st time I saw it, I didn’t realize it & put in my debit card. Was like why I am getting charged more? Now I have to make sure to carry cash to get the cheaper price. It is usually .08 – .10 cheaper by paying cash.
