Stuck in a food rut? Try a cooking class
The other day some friends and I went to the Laughing Lemon in Zurich for an evening cooking class called What’s in Season. The class covered all kinds of delicious fresh vegetables which are available locally at this time of year. Luckily for us, Italy is not far away, so there is actually a pretty good variety of fruits and veggies that are in season during the winter months here. Citrus fruits of all kinds (including blood oranges) are plentiful now. Various kinds of artichokes are also in season, as are certain varieties of lettuce and tomatoes. There were even a couple of veggies featured that I had never seen before, such as monk’s beard.
After being introduced to all these fruits and veggies, we learned a few recipes for cooking with them. And then the best part came – we got to eat.
The class taught me some new tips and tricks for preparing certain veggies, and was a lot of fun, too. Plus, now I know how to make strudel!
Are there any vegetarian cooking classes available in your area? Have you ever tried one?

I’m used to grabbing a good recipe book and DIY! I may consider them in the future but I don’t see them as a necessity right now.
