Earlier this month, I told you about the FDA’s approval of Amitiza, a drug to help manage the pain of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation, or IBS-C (FDA Approves Amitiza for IBS-C).
Earlier this week, a presentation at Digestive Diseases Week in San Diego reiterated the effectiveness of the medication in relieving chronic pain associated with IBS-C.
According to the press release, Drug brings relief for many IBS patients who experience constipation, “We found that individuals who were treated with Amitiza were nearly twice as likely to experience improvement in their IBS symptoms compared to individuals who were treated with placebo,” says [William D.] Chey, [MD], director of the Gastrointestinal Physiology Laboratory and professor of internal medicine at the U-M Medical School.”
