The sun is totally at its brightest during the summer season and many people are taking advantage of this time to convert their homes or businesses to go solar. One of the newest converts is a store and this is the famous Macy’s. Just recently, the company has mounted and installed a solar roof at its store in the Oakridge Mall in San Jose, California. According to the company, this conversion is actually the seventh and they have 21 more stores which would be going solar this summer. The solar roofs are from SunPower which is also based in San Jose.
Taking a look at the project, you would be able to see that the roof of Macy’s Oakridge Mall stall is covered with 1,500 solar panels and that covers around 27,000 square feet of the whole roof. Estimates have it that the whole lot of solar panels would be able to produce over 400,000 kW of power each year.
