Sunning Your Genes

Today, the b5media Science & Health Channel is going sunbathing. GASP! No. I didn’t mean that. I meant we’re going to enjoy the sun safely and share with you our thoughts on the sun, the closest star to our beautiful Mother Earth.

I’m going to go down memory lane and share with you some of the posts I’ve made at Genetics and Health over the months that touched on the sun and its effect on our skin and DNA.

  1. How UV Light Damages DNA
  2. MITF, New Skin Cancer Gene
  3. Skinphysical: DNA Test for Skin Damage

Jane Brody of The New York Times has more about sun protection with special emphasis on sunscreens and sun protective clothing.

I thought that was a very interesting article by Jane Brody. I’d like to see the link to the article on how UV light damages DNA, but it’s not linking anywhere right now ?

  2. river2sea72: Sorry about that! At least I know you were paying attention. ;)

As for my observations the sun influences also my mood very much. It may raise my activity till one moment when I should not be under the sun any more or the effect may be opposite!

  4. Lene: The balance between not enough sun and too much is something to be considered!
