Survive the time change

Today is one of the two days that I hate more than any of the other 363 days per year (364 in a leap year). It’s clock-changing time. Daylight Savings is back and it’s here to mess with our internal time keepers.

I’ve often thought that it’s an outdated practice and I wish we could leave well enough alone. When I was younger and childless, I liked the Fall time change because it meant an extra hour to have fun. My friends and I often had a party especially for the sake of having longer to enjoy it. Now that I have kids who are very sensitive to bedtime and wake-up hours, I hate it with a vengeance.
After all, just because the clock says I have an hour longer to sleep doesn’t mean my kids will get the memo.
I read a great article with some tips on how to help keep things as normal as possible when the time changes, including putting your kids to bed at the normal time on Saturday night rather than giving in to temptation to try to keep them up later in the hopes of having them sleep in (that usually backfires on me whether the time is changing or not – then they wake up early anyway and are cranky & overtired, ugh!).
Read the whole thing here but the basic idea is to try to keep your day as regular as possible. The good news is that they might be a little extra tired by bedtime after the time changes.
Here’s hoping!

I’m tired of the time changes too and wish we could get rid of it. We try and keep our times just as they usually are though with the regular bedtimes, etc. I’ve found that preparing ahead of time never quite works
I feel like I don’t know where the time goes anymore the years just fly in.
7am comes fast.
