Sustainable Homes for Furry Friends

I’ve been so excited to share this cool new company here at Offbeat. I was frustrated when my friend Marye, of the ever delicious Baking Delights, sent me this company info last weekend. I wanted to blog it right away — but as you may remember I was busy. We had guest posters. Still, last weekend or this weekend, you’ll love this company.

Sustainable Pet Design is this amazing idea of a company that creates these great “Greenrrroof” pet homes. Here at Offbeat, it’s well known that we love our greenroofs. (Or I do). It’s also well known that I’m not so fond of furry friends. And, while Sustainable Pet Design doesn’t make a sea monkey version of this pet home, I’m still entirely charmed. Not much related to pets appeals to me, but these homes do. Take a look.

How cool is this!

Not only are these homes incredibly unique, but they’re healthy — in more ways than one. Some healthy perks include:

  • Repels fleas naturally
  • Filters water
  • Attracts butterflies
  • All homes custom built by hand
  • Non-toxic materials for building (like beeswax waterproofing and zero-VOC paints)
  • Roof vegetation is customized to your specific region

Plus it smells nice — bonus when your pet is not smelling as nice.

Some homes are even extra offbeat. For extra cool dogs. If I ever got a dog — I would get this doghouse.

For artistic furry friends:

And even homes for feathered friends!

I think everyone should buy their pet homes from Sustainable Pet Design. Don’t you?

Don’t forget, we also have a pet blog here at b5media, right in this channel — The Food Bowl. Heather, who blogs at The Food Bowl, loves all pets so you’ll learn a lot if pets are your thing.

Weekend Offbeat feature will include: Contest winners! Also, some more offbeat structures, yet to be determined by yours truly.  So stick around.

If our dogs spent any amount of time outside beyond doing their business I would totally get that first one - way too cute!

I love this company, such a cool find! Our dogs live in the house with us, but I’ve thought about creating them an outdoor area during the summer (to get them out from under foot during the day). The bird houses are awesome, and I love unique birdhouses, I’m gonna need to get one of those:)

  3. Funny Heather, I guess if you have indoor dogs these aren’t as useful. They’re so pretty you could have them indoors though.

Linette, thanks as always for stopping by. I bet you could just make your own — as I noted at your blog. You are way crafty.

  4. Our dogs and cats live in the house with us, so we don’t need these houses, but they are certainly neat!
I’ve been thinking that we should have a ‘grazing tray’ of wheat grass or sprouts for our furkids, and this just reminded me of that.

I didn’t know we had a pet blog at b5! Thank you so much for telling us! Time to go for a look-see!

These are terrific!! Thanks for sharing.
