CropperCapture[35] Do you have items like this adorable gap jacket cluttering up space in your kids’ closets? Or maybe you would love a jacket like this for your little baby girl but you don’t want to pay the pretty price for it.

A great way to cut down on the clothes clutter in your home and save some money while filling up their closet with clothes they can wear, is to join a clothing swap. I have swapped clothes with friends before and let me tell you, that was a life saver! It was so nice to be able to save some mega bucks on kids’ clothes and at the same time help my friends do the same thing. And because we were constantly handing clothes off to each other, none of us accumulated these massive pile of clothes that none of our kids could wear.

What if I told you that there is an online community where you can swap your clothes for the clothes you really need? Would you be interested? I sure was! Well guess what…there is a place where you can do just that and it’s called Swango.

Read all about Swango below the cut.

Have you ever thought about how much money is just hanging in your closet? What about the dozens of adorable outfits that you have so quickly lost interest in wearing right after you purchased them? For most of us, these scenarios are all too familiar. What if it was possible to use your existing clothing as a means to get the sizes, styles and brands you need right now?

Swango.com, an online clothing swap, was launched in November to give people a place to swap stylish, brand name clothing without even leaving their home. The easy-to-navigate site allows members to quickly find the clothing they want using a familiar shopping cart checkout process.

The popular new trend of exchanging clothes with other like-minded individuals is taking America by storm. Ranging from huge clothing swap meets held in metropolitan areas to more intimate parties with close friends, people from all over are seeing the money-saving benefits that come from swapping instead of shopping. Thanks to Swango.com, people can use the Internet to take part in this growing phenomenon.

To participate, members must upload brand name, stylish clothing, for which they receive initial free swap credits to get them started. As members’ items sell, they get more swap credits that let them buy new and exciting items that others from around the country have posted.

A small ninety-nine-cent transaction fee is applied for each item purchased with a percentage of that fee going to Dignity-U-Wear, an incredible charity that provides new clothing to children and families who have lost everything.

Other Swango features include a multiple-item uploader to make posting items a snap, personalized lists to keep tabs on others who have your same styles, an innovative shipping approach where the buyer and seller split shipping costs, and numerous benefits to the environment, such as extending the life of existing resources and reducing the number of new clothes purchased by consumers.

I think this is a great idea and a wonderful resource for people to save money and cut down on clothing clutter. Clothing is something that is so easy to hang on to and it takes up space that you really need for other things. Swango seems easy to use and the people who have already tried it love it.

So, go take a look in all of your closets and see if you have some clothes that you’d like to swap out for a “new” outfit. Now this is my kind of shopping!

i cannot access Swango.com. Every time I try, I get “Server not found”. Does anyone else have issues with the site?

Alana, I didn’t write this post, and I don’t know much about them, but maybe they shut down - it happens. I’ll delete this post if they don’t come back.
