Tack on an extra day or two to March Break

Well, it turned out that today – the first day back after March Break – was a snow day in the end. My daughter was pretty disappointed when she woke up at 8 am and realized she wasn’t going to school. I guess she really misses her friends.

Unfortunately, tomorrow may end up being yet another day off from school. Tonight my husband had to go do something with his friend after supper and our daughter started crying when he had to leave. She normally doesn’t fuss about him going out, so we weren’t sure what was going on and I thought maybe the damn time change this weekend was messing with her and she was tired.

Then, 20 minutes later, she told me her throat was sore and she was sniffling a great deal. Sure enough, one touch of my hand to her forehead and I could tell by how hot she was that she’s sick. I’m going to play it by ear – I prepped her lunch anyway, just in case, and I’ll see how she is in the morning. If she’s still feeling unwell I’ll keep her home another day and prop her up in bed with fluids and books and toys. The school will just send her home if she spikes a fever, so there’s no reason for me to force her to go if she feels miserable.

Poor kid, I know she wants to go see her friends but it just might not happen yet.
