tangled thread contest tags and tie dyes quilting cotton

I thought that it’s been too long since I’ve hosted a contest on Tangled Thread… I’m giving away on of my DH’s copper fiber art tags, this one says “Love” in block letters.  I had so many responses about my hand-dyed quilting cottons that I’ve decided to also include five 4 inch squares of the colors you see here!

Okay, now the rules:  Due to shipping costs, the contest is open to residents of the continental USA and Canada.   To enter, just leave a comment on this post, describing what you’re going to do with the tag and the fabric.  The contest will run until Saturday, April 26th, and I will hold a random draw on the 27th to determine a winner.  I’ll write a post on the 27th announcing the winner’s name.  The winner will have three days to contact me to claim their prize – I’ll draw another name after that.

Good luck!

I will give these to my daughter, who is just learning how to sew. I can see the tag being turned into a necklace pretty quickly, but we’ll see what she does with the rest!

  2. Tabitha says:

Honestly, I don’t know what I would make out of them yet. I have to see something and hold it for awhile and let my mind think before I can come up with something. The love tag would probably go somewhere where I can see all the time.

  3. P Hafner says:

The Love tag would go on my bedroom door. The fabric would either go into a quilt or to decorate a t-shirt for my daughter.

  4. Nicole RJ says:

What a cute tag! I thin kI’d probably pass it all along to my mom, and she could make a quilted wall haning with it! :D

  5. Ilissa H. says:

I am going to make a little bag/purse.

  6. Tisha says:

Those are such good giveaways! I would use them to make a bag that I can carry all of my things to work! =)

  11. charline s says:

Give to a crafty friend and ask her to make me something.

  12. Rachel says:

The fabric would look lovely in a quilt, and the tag would look nice in a scrabook or as part of a bigger piece framed.

I heart tie-dye. I’d make a halter top with this.

Not sure what to do yet but I will make something for my girls.

  16. Tabitha says:

I would probably use the fabric (which is awesome!) to embellish baby shirts/onesies. I’m not sure what I’d use the tag for, but I could find something – I might put it on a bag that I make or maybe in a scrapbook or on a necklace, who knows?!?!

    Thanks!

  17. Debbie says:

I would make a small wallhanging with the fabric and charm – it is my son’s high school graduation in May – and it would be perfect for him!

  18. Dale Anne says:

FABULOUS looking dyed fabrics and the tag is GREAT!!!

  19. Nikki says:

I’d quilt those lovely pieces of fabric, add the tag and all the other embellishments the piece needed. Then I’d add a frame and display it in a prominate place in my house.

  20. Jenny says:

The fabrics are wonderful! For me they’d need to go in a quilt.

  21. Marlene says:

I would incorporate the fabrics in my next project, or the current one, as well as adding the “Love” tag too.

  22. I’d give the copper tag to my good friend/fibre artist in Britain and I’d use the luscious fabrics in …well lots of things, but first I’d fondle them, a lot!

  23. Chantelle Sabino says:

im learning to sew so id probably make a cutesy little bag :)
How cool! Thank you. Please enter me.

  24. Anastazia says:

I’d make a wall hanging from those georgous squares with the verse from the Bible on it, “…Faith, hope, & love, & the greatest of these is LOVE” with the tag right there at the end!

  25. Maria says:

What!!! You’re supposed to *make* something with them? I would probably pet them and rub my cheek with them, drool over them a bit and marvel at the colors, and then finally hang them on the wall next to my work computer to make me smile, and I’ll dream of sitting at my sewing machine making a wonderful, colorful quilt, and I won’t get any work done.

  26. wendy says:

Lovely! I’d make a small quiltlet for my daughter’s wall.

  27. I’m desperately behind in a birthday present for my older and wiser sister. I’m thinking that she needs a journal made with your nice hand dyed squares, and a “Love” tag to remind her that I’m her favourite (if somewhat tardy) sister.

  28. Cheryl says:

I’d make my weekly quilt out of it! This is wonderful. Your blog is new to me, but I’m enjoying going back and reading your posts.

  29. Ed Nemmers says:

    Wall Art

  30. Well, I would desperately try not to hoard them! ;) I would first drool a little bit, then rub them on my face while making lots of soothing sounds. hehehe! I’m truthfully not sure what I’d do with the squares.. maybe add them to some stuffed critters. The tag is fantastic as well and I see it on the front of a journal.

  31. Kathleen Connors says:

I would like to put the artful tag and luscious fabric on my wall and enjoy them for awhile. Then make a small framed piece using the fabric and tag and hearts-to proclaim the bond between my daughter, my mother, and me. Thank you.

  32. Celeste Campbell says:

What would I do? HAVE FUN and make something beautiful

  33. Susan says:

I’d use the fabric in a small art quilt and the copper tag would be wonderful on the cover of an altered book.

  34. I would use the hand dyes to the best possible use in a little piece that would go with the copper plate message, then I would embellish and frame. I would use the copper piece as the ‘plaque’ like paint artists do.

  35. Caryn B says:

I’d love to use it to make a lovey blanket for my son

  36. kiyana says:

    I’ll make a quilt!

  38. cheryl says:

Since Love is my name I’d keep the tag; but, I’d use the material for another quilt :) Thanks

  39. Gail NcKenna says:

I would make a small crazy quilt block and frame it for my son and his honey who just bought our old house and renovating it while we have moved to Florida..it would make a gorgeous little quilt to frame..thanks for having this wonderful contest!

  40. Debbie says:

I think I’d use it in a quilt I want to make to celebrate my 50th birthday later this year.

  41. Mia says:

Appliquéd flowers in a Baltimore album that I have been working on on and off for a few years. I am trying to use strictly hand dyeds for the appliqué. This is a quilt that is a long term project. And the tag would be used on an art quilt that I am just starting to create. This would be my first art quilt in several years so I am basically starting over again fresh.

  42. laura kong says:

I think I’d make some jewelry out of all of it. They’re delicious together! ^_^

I think I will make a pillow to give to my daughter.

  44. kathy pease says:

my mom in law..please enter me :)

  45. Janet says:

make a quilt! ty!! 4 the great contest!!

  46. I’m currently working on a wall art quilt for my bedroom, which incorporates words from Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” and expresses my love for my husband. It’s made entirely with tie-dye and batik fabrics. These fabrics would incorporate beautifully, as would the tag. Thanks!

  47. candace says:

I would add a few beads and stuff to make a sweet fiberart postcard series.

  48. Brooke says:

I’m going to teach my 5 year old to sew with it. We may make some appliques for t-shirts or doll clothes.
