If I need work done around the house, the first people I consult is my friends and family. The only thing is, I get a wide range of opinions and even more recommendations. Take that same concept and apply it to the web. Your best resource and a social network, AngiesList. Find opinions from local neighbors who have used the same contractors you maybe considering for your next project.

There are other sites to find contractors in your local area. You’ll get a list of participating contractors. Participating as in they are paying to be on the list.
